Morphology is the study of the internal structure of words and forms a core part of linguistic study today. It is divided into 2 branches: 1. Lexical Morphology or Derivational Morphology 2. Inflectional Morphology. Lexical Morphology refers to how words are constructed and how new words, such as neologisms, might be created. For example, useful - useless, happy - unhappy, funny - unfunny - these words are adjectives, but the meaning is changed. Inflectional Morphology doesn’t alter words' meanings and deals with adapting them in different grammatical contexts (such as making a noun plural). For instance, cat - cats, walk - walking, dog - dogs
