Ulugʻbek was the state architect of Movarounnahr who paid great attention to the development of irrigation systems in the economy and dug nearly 10 canals in the 1420s. During Ulugʻbek's rule (1409-1449), a significant contribution was made to the development of science, art, and culture in Samarqand.
