Aktinomycosis is a chronic infectious disease characterized by granulations, abscesses, and fistulas in various tissues due to bacteria belonging to the actinomyces (branching filamentous bacteria) group. These bacteria typically reside in the oral cavity but become active when immunity weakens, leading to the development of a disease characterized by suppurative inflammation affecting the skin, mucous membranes, intestines, and other internal organs
