Blood biochemistry deals with the study of different components present in blood such as plasma, formed elements, and regulatory elements. It also focuses on the major functions of blood, including transportation of oxygen, carbon dioxide, nutrients, hormones, and metabolic wastes, thermoregulation, pH regulation, protection against blood loss, and protection against diseases through phagocytic blood cells and antibodies. The differences between plasma and serum are also discussed.
